Maria Sharapova has made her way back to the WTA rankings after reaching the semi-finals of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart last week.
Sharapova, who has been away from the court since 2016 after testing positive to a banned substance returned to competitive tennis.
The Russian cruised into the semi-finals of the tournament before losing to Kristina Mladenovicon; he first participation in competitive tennis since October last year.
Due to her fine performance, she earned herself the number 262 spot on the WTA rankings.
Her peers claimed that she shouldn’t have been allowed to participate after she was awarded a wild card.
Sharapova has also been offered a wildcard for the upcoming Madrid and Italian Opens and could be handed that route into the French Open later this month.
