Alaekwe, Alalade to battle CHAN Invitee, Eduwo for VAT Wonder goal 8

July 18th, 2017 Dammy Dudu NPFL Updates 1 comments

FC IfeanyiUbah forward, Alaekwe Chijioke alongside, ABS FC midfielder, Alalade Wasiu will battle CHAN invitee, Kingsley Eduwo for the prestigious VAT Wonder goal award 8, in relation to matches played on Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)  Match Day 27.

Kingsley Eduwo is in contention for his goal, which he scored in the 44th minute in the 3-1 win over League Champions, Enugu Rangers at the Aper Aku Stadium.  Ezekiel Mba and Anthony Okpotu scored the other two goals for Lobi Stars while Daniel Etor got Rangers consolatory goal.

A fiercely headed goal by Alaekwe on the 84th against Katsina United also made the shortlist and was remarkably the player’s first game after a long injury lay-off. Alaekwe connected a pass from the right side, rising highest to beat surrounding defenders for the ball to sail to the post.

Alalade completed the list after his combined effort with team mates late into the fixture in Lagos against MFM reduced their hitherto 2-0 deficit.

Voting on the VAT Wonder Goal 8 will end on Thursday at 11.59pm and the player with the combined highest vote on the NPFL website, www.npfl.ng and twitter handle, @LMCNPFL will be declared winner for the N150, 000 cash prize.

The VAT Wonder Goal is an initiative of the League Management Company (LMC) to promote club community engagement and support the tax education campaign of the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS).

Previous winners include Ayo Saka of Rivers United, Friday Ubong of Akwa United and Salefu Ochowechi of Remo Stars. Others are Usman Ahmed of Wikki Tourists, Shadrack Asiegbu of Abia Warriors and Rabiu Ali of Kano Pillars.
