Read the Story of Alalade, the latest VAT Wonder goal king, a former farmer

July 26th, 2017 Dammy Dudu NPFL Updates 0 comments

Latest VAT Wonder goal winner and Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC forward, Wasiu Alalade shared how he used to farm and work as laborer, in other to get football kits.

Alalade, said this while reacting to his winning the goal number 8 of the award series and told www.npfl.ng that he was not born with a silver spoon, but was always nursing an ambition of playing football to a professional level.

“I’m delighted to win this award, what delighted me most is that I’m going to donate parts of what have won to an orphanage home.

“I had it very rough because I came from a poor background and I love to give but I have nothing or little to give.

“So this award has presented me an opportunity to give to the less privileged through what I love to do most” Alalade said.

He said the award has changed a lot in his life just few days of being declared the winner, because he did not believe he is going to win it.

“I didn’t believe I’m going to win the award, so it has taught me that I can achieve whatever I want to achieve if I work hard for it.

“This is my first Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) goal and this has boosted my morale.

“As you can see, have scored another goal against Rangers in match day 31, that is the believe winning the VAT Wonder Goal 8 award has done to me” the striker averred.

The former First Bank of Lagos attacker, said his parents are the most excited and proud parents in the world because their son was declared winner of the award.

“My parents will always call me before a match to encourage me and after to get feedback of the outcome of the game.

“Their support to my little success so far has been huge and I can’t forget the parental role they have played.

“I said this because many parents do not allow their child or children to play football” Alalade added.

The Kwara State Polytechnic graduate of Accounting, competed with FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s Chijioke Alaekwe, who came second in the polls ahead of Kingsley Eduwo of Lobi Stars.

1,767 of the total 2,806 fans who participated in the poll considered Alalade’s strike as their preferred VAT Wonder Goal of the matchday.

It is the highest number of votes since the LMC introduced the VAT Wonder Goal award.

Alalade led on all voting platforms, the website, www.npfl.ng and on Twitter, @LMCNPFL and is remarkably the only winner to poll over 1,000 votes.
