League Management Company (LMC) have handed some players and officials of FC Ifeanyiubah 12-match suspension and fines for their misconduct against Niger Tornadoes in a Matchday 36 clash of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The Nnewi based club was charged for breaching Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Framework & Rules In their 2-1 loss to Niger Tornadoes on Matchday 36.
The League Management Company concluded that the 2016 Federation Cup winners failed to control and ensure proper conduct of their players and officials during the game against Niger Tornadoes. Some FC Ifeanyiubah players, officials and supporters assaulted match officials In the game. Also, some FC Ifeanyiubah players and officials conducted themselves in manner capable of bringing the league to disrepute. Finally, some FC Ifeanyiubah players and officials on the bench encroached on to the field of play during the game.
That said, FC Ifeanyiubah will pay a fine of N1m for encroachment, N500,000 being N250,000 each to the assaulted referee and assistant refrees.
Furthermore, the League Management Company handed FC Ifeanyiubah players, Ngoma Luamba, Elu Wilson, Isaac Loute, Stephen Eze, Adeleye Olamilekan, Michael Egbeta, Uchenna Godfrey Jr, Douglas Nkrumah, Kone Soumaila 12-match suspension.
Finally, FC Ifeanyiubah secretary Chidi Nwogu and kit manager Adirika Obiefuna are banned for next 19 NPFL games for assault on match officials.
The suspensions on FC Ifeanyiubah players and officials take effect immediately and shall be carried over into the next Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
