Makinwa fears losing Wasiu Alalade to a bigger club

Coach of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC, Henry Makinwa, said he is afraid of losing one of the best clinical finishers in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), last season, Wasiu Alalade.

Makinwa told the club Media on Wednesday that seven goals in 10 games is not bad for a winger and described the former First Bank of Lagos player as one of the most professional players he has seen so far in Nigeria.

“He is very disciplined and humble and doesn’t joke with his job.

“Wasiu work very hard in training everyday and that paid off for him and us when we needed him.

“His study didn’t allow us to get the best of him during the cause of the season because of his exams in school.

“His combining education and football together shows how disciplined the young lad is” Makinwa said.

The former Tianjin TEDA of China attacker, said the graduate of Accounting from Kwara State Polytechnic is a player for the future which the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), should watch out for.

Makinwa said Alalade is not a flamboyant striker like late Rasheed Yekini, whose presence is threatening to defenders but he is sneaky and will finish any chance with a sight on goal.

The ABS gaffer said fans in Ilorin few weeks ago gave the winger a nickname “One Goal Per Game”, when he scored in about four games consecutively both home and away.

“Wasiu is not the only talented players in ABS, there are plenty others too like Adeoti, Dada and Chindo etc.

“Not many clubs in the country will follow our policy of developing these guys.

“The average age of many of players is 20 and I’m sure not many clubs in the country would want to take the risk of prosecuting the league with players like that.

“We didn’t regret we played these players because our work will paid off when we see some of these guys in the national team in the future” Makinwa said.

The Saraki Boys are still competing in the Aiteo Cup after dropping to the Nigeria National League (NNL), on the final day of the season, losing 1-2 to Nasarawa United.
