Rashford, Mbappe, Dembele Top Golden Boy list

September 21st, 2017 Precious Olawumi Football, News 0 comments

United youngster Rashford is among six English nominees vying with Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele for the 2017 Golden Boy award, run by the Italian newspaper Tuttosport and presented to Europe’s most impressive footballer under the age of 21.

Mbappe, who joined Paris Saint-Germain on loan last month after impressing for French champions Monaco last season, will be a strong favourite for the honour alongside Dembele, who completed his £97m move from Dortmund to Barcelona the summer.

But Rashford, who was runner-up in last year’s competition to Swansea’s on-loan Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches – will also have his backers after continuing to impress for Manchester United.

Liverpool duo Dominic Solanke and Joe Gomez, plus Everton’s Dominic Calvin-Lewin, Kyle Walker-Peters of Tottenham and Reece Oxford of West Ham – currently on loan to Borussia Monchengladbach – complete the list of England’s contenders.

The winner will be decided by a panel of 30 journalists and will be announced in October.
