AITEO Cup: Duke Udi Seeks Sunshine Stars Response In Another Reunion With Osun United

September 22nd, 2017 Dammy Dudu NPFL Updates 0 comments

Sunshine Stars FC and Osun United FC will resume hostilities on Saturday in Ijebu Ode for a place in the semi finals of the AITEO Cup with Duke Udi seeking a better outcome in the second meeting with his former charges in three days.

There was no love lost on Wednesday when Sunshine Stars coach, Udi returned to Oshogbo and the 1-0 loss to a 10-man Osun United in the Southwest derby was far from the ideal result the former Nigeria international envisaged going into the AITEO Cup quarter final first leg tie.

Red hot marauding striker, Tosin Omoyele 63rd minute goal ensured the Omoluwabi Giants have the advantage from the first leg in a game Sunshine Stars failed to hit rhythm and the poor playing surface of the Oshogbo Twonship Stadium obviously worsened things for the Akure Landlords.

However on a clearly better playing surface at the Dipo Dina Stadium on Saturday Sunshine Stars will hope to be in their right elements to help coach Udi avenge the loss to his former side and more importantly put their cup ambition back on track with a convincing display in the derby.

*Previous Meeting(s)*

Albeit a 3-2 friendly win for Sunshine Stars in August the AITEO Cup quarterfinal first leg match on Wednesday was the first time the Southwest sides met competitively since the name change of Osun United from Prime FC.

*Manager’s Comment*

Udi congratulated his former side via twitter (@Duke_Udi) on their first leg win but hinted Sunshine Stars will put in a different display on Saturday.

_Congratulations to @OsunUnitedFC  for a well deserved victory yesterday. We did not come to the party, we will definitely on Saturday #fight._ Udi tweeted.

Ajibola Otegbeye who missed the first leg encounter with an injury has made a return back to the team alongside Abiodun Joseph.
