Sunshine Stars cruised to a 2-1 win over Wikki Tourists on Sunday at the Ondo State Sport Complex, Akure to keep 2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) playoffs hopes alive and Anthony Omaka, who scored the winning goal couldn’t hold the excitement for saving his club in one of the Matchday 17 NPFL fixtures.
Franklin Sasere opened the scoring from a header in the 14th minute for the Owena Whales before, Anthony Omaka doubled the lead some minutes later. Abba Umar reduced the deficit just before halftime but his goal wasn’t enough to ruin Sunshine Stars double over Wikki Tourists with the Akure landlords beating Wikki Tourists in Gombe in the first leg 1-0.
Speaking exclusively to Sportlens360, Anthony Omaka said he feels great scoring his fourth goal of the season.
“I feel great scoring the winner, which is also my fourth goal of the season. I believe we are not struggling and we working hard to make the playoffs at the end of the season.
Sunshine Stars will next face Remo Stars, who are bottom of the league table in a SouthWest derby clash on Wednesday.
