Nigeria Striker, Odion Ighalo netted a brace last night to inspire his team to a 3-2 victory over Defending Champions, Cameroon at the Alexandria Stadium in the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations Round Of 16.
The 30-year old was full of excitement after the game and thank the Nigeria supporters after netting his first AFCON brace for Nigeria on Saturday.
Ighalo scored the winning goal for Nigeria against Burundi in their first game of the 2019 AFCON and has since not find the back of the net until last night, where he bagged a brace.
“I want to thank God for scoring the brace, I’m very happy. It was a very important and tough game, we fight from the start to the finish. Even when we were down 1-2, we still believed we could win. I’m happy for scoring those goals and for the win.” Ighalo said.
“The next game is difficult but we will start preparations as soon as possible. I want to thank Nigeria fans for their support and they should keep supporting us, so that we can go all the way”. He concluded.
Ighalo is currently the joint-top scorer at 2019 Afcon alongside Senegal’s Sadio Mane with three goals, and he is looking forward to facing South Africa in the quarterfinal on July 10.
