The Super Eagles have all to play for when they face South Africa on Wednesday in one of the Quarterfinals fixtures of the 2019 African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) going on in Egypt.
The Super Eagles defeated defeated Cameroon 3-2 on Saturday to clinch their Quarterfinals spot coming from a goal down at 1-2 to win 3-2.
However, so many questions were raised to Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr about not giving playing time to Henry Onyekuru who plays for Turkish Giants, Galatasary, and Victor Osimhen who had a good season with Royal Charleroi.
When Gernot was asked Osimhen and Onyekuru’s exclusion from the four games played by the Super Eagles so far, the German said that the players who have played so far deserved to be there more than them.
“Onyekuru and Osimhen are young and they are here to learn. Musa and Ighalo are experienced so they are the ones to start.” He said in the presser before South Africa game.
“For Onyekuru, he has to first fight with Simon and Chukwueze for a position and then maybe for the central position. For Osimhen, he has to be stronger. In training, any touch he falls down. So I tell him to be strong.” He concluded.
