Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi was the hero once again for Kazier Chiefs, as they overcame a stubborn Cape Town City in the Last 16 of the Telkom Knockout on penalties.
Cape Town City went ahead in the 34th minute though Kermit Erasmus from close range to give the home side an advantage in the first half.
Kermit Erasmus almost made it 2-0 for Cape Town City in the 53rd minute but Daniel Akpeyi’s triple saves ensured the game was in sight for Kazier Chiefs.
In the 63rd minute, Thabo Nodada’s attempt on goal was also saved by Daniel Akpeyi.
The game took a turn in the 84th minute, when Samir Nurkovic restored parity in the game.
The game ended 1-1 in normal regulation time and went straight to extra time, but Daniel Akpeyi’s two saves in extra time ensured the match went straight to penalties.
The Super Eagles Goalkeeper saved a penalty in the shootout as Kazier Chiefs won 4-2 on penalties to advance to next round of the Telkom Knockout.
