Lobi Stars Forward, Austin Ogunye says he is relieved to open his goal account in the 2-1 win over Wikki Tourists in a Matchday 19 clash at the Aper Aku Stadium on Sunday.
The Markudi-based side cruised to a 2-1 win against Wikki Tourists, as they return to the top of the league after the first round of the 2019/2020 NPFL season.
Utibe Arit gave the home side the lead in the 10th minute of the game when he hit home Samad Kadri’s cross beyond Pius Ibrahim before Austin Ogunye doubled the lead with a goal from the spot in the 38th minute.
Nasir Jubril pulled one back for Wikki Tourists in added time but it didn’t stop Lobi claiming all three points to go top of the table. The game finished with Wikki’s Yinka Onaolapo being sent off for a second booking on his debut for the Bauchi club.
“I feel relieved after scoring my first goal of the season because it’s been a while. As a striker, you needed goals to be relevant and I’m happy to get that started this season.
“It wasn’t easy but I just kept pushing and working hard, believing that things will change soon. Although I wasn’t fully around during the start of the season due to my wedding ceremony”. He continued.
Ogunye, who was part of the team who the title in 2018 said, the club is working hard to claim the title this season.
“This season, we just want to win the NPFL title and I believe we can do it with our consistent form and hardwork”. He concluded.
