Horoya AC Forward Bolaji Sakin has revealed the story behind the claim that his team won the tie against Enyimba FC because a charm was used on the players.
The first leg of the tie which was played in Aba ended in a 1-1 draw. The people’s elephant needed a win in Conakry to secure a place in the last four of the competition but went down to a 2-0 win, with Horoya making the final four spot.
In an interview session held on Instagram on Tuesday, Bolaji Sakin went ahead to debunk the reports that a charm was used on the Enyimba team to influence their win.
“I don’t know what really happened, I was surprised to hear that too. I saw some Enyimba players telling me something was itching them. I looked at the place and I didn’t see anything” he told Sportlens360
“From the beginning of the game, we had more chances than them because we came to Aba, we played draw. They were lucky because they underperformed in the second half and we played better.
We are in Africa, I don’t use charm but sometimes I see people especially this Guinean league. Sometimes when we play, you see some things in the dressing room and you’ll be surprised. They’ll burn and throw it away. We are in Africa, I don’t know about it but it is football, Charm or no charm, if you want to win, you win. If we use charm, we would have won the Champions League” he said.
Sakin played for Abia Warriors and Rivers United before sealing a move to Horoya AC of Guinea.
