It was a beautiful start for Nigerian Midfielder Paul Onobi who wanted to just play football and earn a living, the reason for his move to Saudi Arabian football based club Al-Bukayriyah, before he began experiencing difficulty in the city.
Paul Onobi admits that he had to terminate his contract with Al- Bukayriyah because he was approached by the President of the club who asked him to change his religion.
“I moved to Karma from Al-Bukayriyah. The experiences there was a bit difficult because myself and Okemute Odah were the only Christians there. The president of the club wanted me to change to Muslim because he likes me. It is not a problem for me to change but because of the kind of family I came from. I don’t want to do anything to hurt my mom because she is the only one I have.
I had to tell the president that I can’t change. After that discussion and when I realized that the environment wasn’t favorable for me to play, I had to go to Kazma”, he told Sportlens360 in an Instagram live session on Wednesday.
When asked what he does during his leisure hours, the midfielder says he love to play snooker. He also lists Fela, Burna Boy, Naira Marley, Zlatan Ibile as few kd the artistes he loves to listen to.
