Kelly Kester has revealed that he was paid thirty thousand Naira as a salary for doing what he loves to do, that is, playing football.
The former Enyimba midfielder who was born and bred in Abuja disclosed that he had to leave University of Jos to focus on a career in football despite his parent’s disapproval at first.
Kester disclosed that he was paid a sum of thirty thousand Naira as player of FC Abuja where it all started.
“My first football salary was thirty thousand Naira. There was pressure from home that I have to go to school. It was a bit difficult at the start but later my parents approved. It was midway into my first season with FC Abuja I got their approval. At a point, I had to leave home”, he told Sportlens360.
The 27-year-old now ply his trade for Vietnamese football club side, Hoang Anh Gia Lia. Kelly Kester says leaving Nigeria and playing in Vietnam is a really huge step for him.
Kester has had stints with Nigerian Professional Football league side like Nassarawa United, Enyimba, Lobi stars, Akwa United.
