There are countless of Nigerian football players both home and abroad who are always looking forward to representing the National team at some point in their career.
Getting into the national team can be said to be a tough task especially for players in the Nigerian professional football league who haven’t had the chance to travel abroad to garner experience.
FC Tulsa midfielder, Raphael Ayagwa had represented the National team at a point in his career and he expressed joy at having to achieve that feat.
The youngster played for the African Nations Championship qualifiers (CHAN) Eagles in 2017. His debut was against Benin Republic which has been the only appearance he has made for Nigeria.
Ayagwa says It was something his late Dad always looked forward to him doing but was unfortunately not present when it happened
“It was a dream come true (to play for Nigeria). It was a mixed feeling for me. Dad wanted to see me represent the country and see me play soccer professionally. I was happy to a point and then became sober because he wasn’t there to witness it”, he told Sportlens360.
The 22-year old who has had stints with Lobi Stars, Plateau United also disclosed that he is a fan of English side Tottenham Hotspur and that Luka Modric was his focus player back then.
