The UEFA Champions League which is an annual club football competition is one of the most prestigious football tournament in the world and it is always a dream for top players and clubs to participate in.
It was founded in 1955 and named the European Champion clubs’ cup and re-branded in 1992.
Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs played major roles in his team’s success during his time at the club. The Wales National team football head coach appeared in the Champions league final for the Red devils in three different decades.
He played in the final of the 1999 Champions league against Bayern Munich. The match ended 2-1 in favour of United. Ryan Giggs was introduced in place of Scholes in the final against Chelsea in 2008 which they won via penalty shootout. He also played in 2009 against Barcelona in a 2-0 loss and was also present against Barcelona in 2011 in another loss, a 3-1 victory for Barcelona.
That makes it three decades(1999, 2008-2009, 2011) in which the Manchester United had participated in the Champions league final; a beautiful achievement for the Welshman.
Manchester United have won the UEFA Champions League three times out of five finals they’ve appeared in. In 1968, 1999 and 2008, the Red devils were the best team in Europe.
