Clubs in the NPFL are beginning to queue up in a bid to engage the services of the Heartland Technical Adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu as the ongoing management uncertainties around the club continue to cast doubt over his future at the club.
Currently three top NPFL clubs were rumored to have contacted the former MFM FC Technical Adviser’s Representative about the coach’s availability for a move ahead of the new season.
Coach Ilechukwu’s Representative responding to questions about the future of the former Nigeria U-23 Assistant Coach said, “We are very patient and in no rush to making a decision about his [Fidelis Ilechukwu] future. When the time is right, a decision would be made about if he’d continue with Heartland FC or move elsewhere.”
He further went on to debunk rumors that the Coach’s contractual obligations meant he can’t leave the club at the moment saying, “Yes, he still has valid contract with Heartland FC but their are clauses that if need be we can explore. So, Coach Ilechukwu is in Heartland FC today because he still has a believe in the project the club is offering but the next few weeks would be very decisive.”
Heartland FC currently owe players and coaches for a duration close to six (6) months and have only recently dissolved their management board with several of the club’s players reported to have joined rival NPFL clubs amidst the club’s transfer ban
