Nyima Nwagua revealed his relief after he helped Kano Pillars earn a draw against Nasarawa United in a Matchday 3 fixture of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The 27-year old netted his first league goal of the season in the 48th minute, after hitting home from a goal mouth scramble. Adamu Hassan restored parity in the 82nd minute to put the game at 1-1.
It was Nwagua’s first league appearance of the season, after recuperating from an injury which he sustained in their CAF Confederations Cup matchup.
Speaking to Sportlens360 after the game, Nwagua said, “It was a hard game, but I’m relieved today.
“It’s my first goal of the season and it came when the team needed it. I just came back from injury after our CAF Confederations Cup matches and it feels special for the goal to come today.” Nwagua said.
Kano Pillars will host Plateau United in their next game and Nyima Nwagua expect the manager to give him a starting shirt for his impact in the game on Sunday.
“I feel like I’m ready to regain my spot in the starting lineup and I think that the goal is enough time get back my place. It’s all for the team”. Nwagua concluded.
