New Akwa United signing, Alimi Jamiu has expressed his dissatisfaction with the way things went down at Kano Pillars under Kadiri Ikhana and expect good things with his new team.
The Nigeria International, was not getting enough games for the Kadiri Ikhana side through the 18games played this season and has opted to go elsewhere, in other to regain his flare.
In an interview with Sportlens360.com, Jamiu Alimi shared why he left Kano Pillars and what he hopes to achieve with Akwa United amidst tight competition.
“I’m expecting a healthy competition, because they [Akwa United] have good central defenders, the likes of Ariwachukwu Emmanuel, Godspower Igudia and the rest. I will just have to add what I can give, so we can go places.”
“The reason why I left Kano Pillars isn’t strange to anyone, as I wasn’t getting enough games like last season and it showed I was not good enough for Coach Kadiri Ikhana, so I needed to find my way out, to where I can enjoy myself and football once again.”
The former Shooting Stars defender, was part of the CHAN team under Coach Sunday Oliseh in 2016, and he expects his move to help his chances to make the National Team once again.
“The season is still early, we can’t predict those that will be invited to the CHAN Eagles, and it’s left to the coach. I will do my best to regain my flare and enjoy football again, so that I will get called up to the National Team.”
“I want to achieve greatness with Akwa United, who are currently 5th place now. To put everything in place and to work harder. So that we can compete for the NPFL title.”
