FC ROBO EDGED IBOM ANGELS TO GO TOP OF GROUP A

FC Robo Queens of Lagos came from behind to edge a 3-2 win over Ibom Angels in one of the match day 4 fixtures of the ongoing 2017 Nigerian Women Premier League to move top of the log in group A.
The Osahon Queens who lost 0-3 on the road to Rivers Angels on match day 3 came into the encounter with two different changes to the starting line up that were on parade in Port Harcourt seeing injured Chidinma Okeke dropped for Folajomi Olabiyi and Adegbite Bukola replacing veteran goal keeper Amole Damilola who picked up a knock in training on Tuesday.
The visitors started the game on high by gaining several advantages in the mid field with good height as a big bonus on their side. With less than 10 minutes into the game, Ibom Angels got the opener of the day when Charity Ruben got the advantage over Falese Bukola by virtue of speed to shot brilliantly at the right side of the post in the 6th minute to give her team the lead.
FC Robo Queens came into the game by breaking the strength of the visitors in the mid field and got them caged in their own half with several attempts to finding an equalizer. Monday Gift’s rebound effort was well read by the goalkeeper who was forced to make two saves in the twinkle of an eye from Rasheedat Ajibade’s long range shot.
The half time interval came close with the visitors leading and a tensed atmosphere for FC Robo Queens who had squandered several scoring opportunities. With just two minutes to the break, a quick interplay between Falese and Monday came to trouble the defence of Ibom Angels and poor defensive play put Ndubisi Esther in good position to slot in the equaliser before half time to keep the score 1-1 .
The second half began relatively on a slow pace for the Ibom side as they came in to force the hungry Robo Queens to play the gently style but skilful moves from Rasheedat Ajibade and Monday Gift from the side seems to trouble them on every attempt. Hard tackle on Monday Gift in 57th minutes by Etakpe resulted to a free kick at the edge of the box which was well delivered by Uchegbu Chidinma to Rasheedat Ajibade who found the back of the net in the 58th minutes to give the lead.
High flying full back Uchegbu Chidinma got her name on the assist list for the second time when she brilliantly set up Monday Gift into space with a pass from behind who went on to finish excellently in the 66th minutes to double the lead.
The introduction of Blessing Dabrize proved pivotal for the visitors as they became a big threat to the defensive pairing of Oke Maria and Mercy Joseph who were left fidgeting on several occasions late in the game.
Long balls from the heart of Ibom Angels mid field dropped behind the defense of FC Robo Queens to find locomotive Charity Ruben in space who dashed in to score her second for the night in the 80th minutes to reduce the lead to 3-2.
Central referee Ali Bilikis from Kwara state brought the game to an end after several tussles from the two sides left the score line on a five goals thriller with FC Robo Queens earning all the three maximum points at home.
With the score line, FC Robo Queens now sir top of group A in the mean time pending the outcome of the match involving Abia Angels and Rivers Angels tomorrow with 7 points from 4 games to their account.
