Akwa United shining star, Ibrahim Alhassan has set his sight on justifying the Super Eagles call-up, as he also thinks he can win the April LBA player of the month award based on statistics.
The former Flying Eagles player recieved his first ever Super Eagles call-up, as Coach Gernot Rohr invited four home-based players in view of the friendly against Corsica, and Africa Nations Cup qualifiers against Bafana Bafana of South Africa later this month.
The other three home-based players included in the 25-man list are NPFL current top scorer, Stephen Odey and his teammate Sikiru Olatunbosun, the duo of MFM FC also got their first time call up, while FC IfeanyiUbah goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa who have been a regular call-up complete the list.
In an interview with Sportlens360, Alhassan expressed his joy in getting the call-up.
“I’m over excited, there is no moment better than this to me and I will give it all in the camp to make sure I justify my call-up. I really appreciate the super eagles coach for giving me the opportunity to be part of the few to represent my father land.”
The former Wikki Toursits player, who has netted 10times for Akwa United this season with 2assists, shared his optimism in winning the LBA April award for the player of the month, as he is in contention with Lobi’s Anthony Okpotu, Nasarawa United’s Onaolapo Olayinka and Katsina United’s Chinedu Udechukwu.
“I think I can win it best on the statistics and I will be very happy to win the award.”
