FC IfeanyiUbah Striker, Chijioke Alaekwe is expecting great things for himself, as he return back to action after long injury lay-off.
The Imo-State born got injured during the preseason preparations for this season, close to the end of last year, and couldnt feature for the Anambra Warriors through the first round games of the 2016/2017 NPFL season.
In an interview with Sportlens, Alaekwe shared how the injury period wasnt easy for him and his expectations on his return.
“It wasnt easy for me through the injury, but I thank God that I’m fully back and i’m hoping for a greater and better season ahead, as the second round of the NPFL resumes.
Alaekwe who played 7matches for IfeanyiUbah last season and netted two important goals – one against eventual Champions, Enugu Rangers in the 2-0 win and also scored the winner against Warri Wolves in the only away win, FC IfeanyiUbah had last season, talked about his team chances thia season.
“I did very well last season, and I’m hoping to do more this season, by taking the team to continental again. The league is still open, despite being on 8th position after the first round, we can still get some away wins, and win all of our home games in the process. As a team, we are working very hard, and working together to make sure that the second round favour us.”
Alaekwe continued, by speaking on his chances breaking into the team.
“It’s not easy to break into the team, but I’m working so hard to break into the team, and get back my place in the team.”
FC IfeanyiUbah will travel to Ibadan, for their second round opener against Shooting Stars this weekend.
