Akwa United midfielder, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi says he is ready to give his best against League Leaders, Plateau United, despite his eyes injury sustained against Enyimba in a 1-0 win on Matchday 27.
The former MFM FC midfielder sustained an injury to his right eye after a clash with Enyimba’s Chinoso Okonkwo in a match that eventually favored the Promise keepers with Musa Newman winner.
Plateau United have stayed on top of the log, than any other team this season, acquiring 48points in 27 games – However, facing the most improved team in the second round, Akwa United who have lost just once in the second phase of the league wouldn’t be an easy ride for the league leaders.
In a chat with Sportlens360, Akwa United midfielder Ifeanyi Ifeanyi claimed the Promise Keepers are ready to give the league leaders a run for their money in the Matchday 28 clash in Jos.
‘We don’t feel threatened going away to face Plateau United. We got a point there, when I played with MFM FC last season.’
The former Flying Eagles star, continued as he dismiss any concern of his injury affecting his performance on Sunday.
‘My eye injury won’t affect me, I’ve played with more serious injury than this.’
Akwa United are currently placed third on the NPFL log with 43 points. A win will see them level on points with second placed MFM FC, who will sit out Matchday 28, because of their opponents participation in CAF Confederations Cup.
