Katsina United’s poor run continues as Akinbo rescues Saraki boys in a 2-2 draw

Akinbo Oluwasegun’s goal earned ABS FC a point as Katsina United record their fourth draw at home in a game that ended 2-2 at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium on Matchday 32 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) .

‘The Chanji Boys’ now occupy 13th position on the league table with 42 points from 32 games.

ABS have moved a spot up with this vital away point to occupy 17th position on the table with 40 points gathered from 32 games.

The game started with a very low intensity as both teams were very cautious not to make mistakes.

Katsina United gradually took the game to their visitors by forcing them to concede the first corner kick.

Katsina United central midfielder Ashadi Destiny was a delight to watch as he controlled the pace of the game for the hosts in the middle of the park with some dazzling skills and defence-splitting passes that kept the visitors defenders on their toes.

Several chances were created by the hosts but they lacked the final touch as Joseph Adah, Martins Usule and Ashadi came close to opening the scoring in the first 25 minutes of play.

However, mercurial Katsina midfielder Ashadi finally broke the deadlock for the hosts on 35 minutes with a well taken long-range strike after he dribbled past three of his markers to put the hosts in front.

However, the celebration didn’t last long as the visitors replied eight minutes later through Ossy’s curling strike from the left flank to give ABS the parity.

Katsina United fought very hard to go back in front, but all their attacking moves were repelled by the the defence of ABS led by Ernest Governor as the first 45 minutes ended 1 – 1.

Adah Joseph put the hosts back in front 10 minutes into the second half after he ran towards a loose ball in the box of ABS, he took his time and placed the ball to the top corner of the net.

The visitors leveled up again from another well-taken long distance strike by Akinbo Oluwasegun to make the scoreline 2-2.

Obinna’s audacious strike from a free kick on the edge of ABS box could have put Katsina United back in front on 67th minutes, but it crashed against the post.

The hosts did everything possible to get the winning goal, but their efforts were futile as the game ended 2-2.

ABS FC will play Remo Stars in Ilorin next,  while Katsina United will face Rivers United in port-harcourt.
