Akwa United Coach, Abdul Maikaba has shared his plans for the club ahead of the 2017/2018 season after the 2017 Aiteo Cup triumph over Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.
The former Wikki Tourists gaffer, led the promise keepers to a successful 2017 Aiteo Cup triumph, winning 3-2 on penalties at the Soccer Temple, Agege.
Speaking with Sportlens360, Maikabi shared Part of his plans for the team next season, as they seek the league title and compete in the CAF Confederations Cup.
“We will go home and regroup, so that we cannot repeat the same mistakes we made in 2015 at the CAF Confederations Cup, and I believe it’s likely we do better this time around. I won’t overhaul the team, as I will retain 80% of the current players.”
Akwa United were Federation Cup Champions in 2015, and represented the country in the CAF Confederations Cup, but couldn’t get past the first round of the competition.
