Udechukwu is still our player – Katsina United denies move to Plateau United

October 22nd, 2017 Dammy Dudu NPFL Updates 0 comments

Katsina United have publicily denied the transfer of Striker Chinedu Udechukwu to 2017 Nigeria Professional League Champions, Plateau United ahead of the upcoming season.

Udechukwu, who ended up as top scorer for the Chanji boys has a binding contract with Katsina United till 2019 and so speculations over his future are well off the mark, according to club chairman Aminu Kurfi.

Kurfi also used the opportunity to call on fellow NPFL clubs to be more professional in the way they handle matters in the league.

Udechukwu, who scored 11 goals for ‘The Changi Boys’ in the NPFL, has been linked with several top clubs.

However, Kurfi stated Katsina United expect Udechukwu, 23, to respect his contract.

“The player has a contract with Katsina United till 2019 and we expect him to see through this contract,” said the Katsina United boss.

“We have not received any official bid for the player and would rather call on any club interested in our players to follow the laid down rules and not to be tapping up players who are under contract with other clubs.

“I will therefore call on my fellow club bosses to be a lot more professional in how they go about running their clubs.”

Kurfi added: “Katsina United gave everything to win promotion and we also gave everything to stay up in the NPFL against all odds.

“I will therefore expect other clubs not to disrespect small clubs like us, but should rather seek ways how they can support us to also grow.”
