Mfon Udoh is a striker who ply his trade for the most succesful team in Nigeria Football, Enyimba football Club and was the Captain of the side during the Nigeria Professional Football League 2016/2017 season.
He was born in Cross River State, Calabar to be precise, where he decided to play football without the support of his parents, who feels juggling Education and Football wasn’t right for him at the time.
His first team as a player, was with Majesty Academy, in Calabar before moving on to Diamond Stars also in Calabar, where he played in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
After having an impressive season with Diamond Stars, he then went on to Unicem Rovers, where he made a mark for himself, finishing as Club’s topscorer to get the attention of a First Division side and NPFL side, Akwa United.
Mfon Udoh’s love for Former Nigeria International, Austin Okocha, made him adopt the ‘No 10’ Jersey as his trademark number.
He spent just a season at Akwa United, where he also finished as Club’s topscorer, only to get the attention of Enyimba Fc of Aba.
The boy that was made from Calabar, having to buy boots by himself, without the support of his parents went on to shatter the NPFL goal record in 2013 by scoring 23goals, the highest goals scored by any NPFL player in a single season. A feat which earned him a call-up to the national team.
In the 2016 CAF Champions League campaign, Udoh scored 9goals for the two-time Africa Champions, Enyimba Football Club to become the biggest name in Africa’s club football.
Mfon Udoh is a product of the environment, grew up through the ranks in Calabar, was focused despite less support and now one of the biggest names in African Football.
