Liepaja’s Hogan Ukpa happy with 5-1 win against Metta

Hogan Ukpa says he is not focused on personal glory

FK Liepaja midfielder, Hogan Ukpa says he is happy with the 5-1 win against FK Metta at the Daugava Stadium, Riga on Sunday.

The 20-year old played all minutes available in the game, as FK Liepaja maintained their winning run in a comeback win.

Lukass Vapne put the home side ahead from the spot in the 22nd minute, before Eric Punculs leveled in the 37th minute and also put the away side ahead in the 44th minute just before halftime.

FK Liepaja started the second half just the way they ended the first, as 34-year old Marko Simic scored in the 56th and 73rd minute to take the game beyond Metta’s grasp. Martins Kigurs completed the thrashing with a fine strike in the 89th minute.

Speaking to Sportlens360 after the game, Hogan Ukpa says he is happy to take part in the win.

“I’m happy to take part in this win. It clearly shows how we are getting better everyday. We had to comeback from a goal down and that’s never easy.

“We will remain focused and hope things end quite well for us. I’m not concerned about personal glory right now, as long as the team wins then I am happy”. Ukpa told Sportlens360.

The league toppers, FK Liepaja will host 5th placed, Auda in their 6th game of the season on Thursday.
