Juan Mata has extended his stay by signing a one year deal with Manchester United following the expiration of his contract with the English side few days ago.
The 33-year old midfielder, who was brought in from Chelsea Football Club for a record £37.1 million in January 2014, featured for Manchester United in only 18 matches last season.
A club statement read: “Manchester United is delighted to announce Juan Mata has agreed a one-year contract, keeping him at Old Trafford until June 2022.
“The World Cup winner’s influence on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s young, improving squad is invaluable and the manager continues to be a huge supporter of the fleet-footed Spaniard.”
He has 273 appearances, scoring 51 and Providing 47 assist since his arrival at Manchester United.
