Austine Ogunye netted the winner for Lobi Stars in the 3-2 win against Nasarawa United on Wednesday in a North central derby at the Aper Aku Stadium.
Lobi Stars continued with their impressive home form this season with a stunning comeback against the Solid Miners.
Silas Nwankwo opened scoring for the visitors in the 3rd minute before Samuel Mathias in the 19th minute. Nasarawa took another lead in the 27th minute through Silas Nwankwo, who netted his 16th goal of the season.
Samuel Mathias restored parity in the 31st minute before Austine Ogunye scored the match winner in the 43rd minute just before the break.
“This match was a local derby and quite difficult but at the end, I’m happy to score the winning goal for my team against red-hot Nasarawa United”. Ogunye told Sportlens360.
The former MFM FC striker spoke about the challenges of Lobi Stars.
“It’s been a challenging season for us, with ups and down. This happens in football, we didn’t meet up with our targets but we have to forge ahead.
“The season is almost coming to an end and all we can do, is to look forward to a better next season and we don’t want to make same mistakes again.” Ogunye told Sportlens360.
Lobi Stars are now placed 7th on the log after their win against Nasarawa United on Wednesday.
