Rivers United defender, Mutiu Ogundimu has praised the fighting spirit of the club, following their 1-0 win over Young Africans SC on Sunday in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round.
The match, which had attempts from both sides needed a late goal from Uche Onwuasonaya to put the Rivers United into the second preliminary round after a 2-0 aggregate advantage to Eguma’s tutored side.
“We are just getting started, but we have to celebrate the smallest of wins and this is one of them. You can see how we celebrated the goal and win like we wanted it so bad”. Ogundimu told Sportlens360.
“The spirit in our team is just brilliant and now is now the time to slow down or give up. We have to maintain the momentum in the next round.”
Rivers United will face Sundanese side, Al-Hilal in the second preliminary round and the tie will come up in October.
