Enyimba’s Adeleke Adekunle expects tough Abia derby

Adeleke says Enyimba will turnaround their season in the second round

Enyimba FC defender, Adeleke Adekunle says he is expecting a tough challenge in the Abia derby against Abia Warriors in the NPFL Matchday 21 fixture on Wednesday.

The People’s Elephant took all 3 points in the first leg of the encounter in December with a 2-1 win over neighbors, Abia Warriors. Chigozie Obasi and Ekene Awazie got the goals for Enyimba, while Paul Samson scored for Abia Warriors.

Abia Warriors will host Enyimba FC at the Okigwe Township Stadium on Wednesday and Super Eagles defender, Adeleke Adekunle shared his expectations of facing his former team in a derby.

“My expectation is nothing more than getting the 3points, which is the main target. We know it’s not going to be easy, especially facing my former team and former coach, who actually know a lot about my style of play, but I will give everything it takes to come out with a win.

“Derby matches are always different from every other league games, because the match is more about pride of the city and the match is also important to the fans, so we know what is at stake and we will do our best tomorrow for Enyimba to win.” Adeleke told Sportlens360.

The defender also talked about the ups and downs of Enyimba this season.

“We’ve had a lot of ups and downs this season and the results have not been going quite well for us, but we hope to use the second round of the league to get it right and put the club back to where it belong”. Adeleke added.
