Ifeanyi Ifeanyi loving life in Iraq: “I feel at home”

Ifeanyi Ifeanyi is slowly getting a hang of the food, language and culture in an unfamiliar atmosphere

Super Eagles midfielder, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi has revealed that he is enjoying his new football life in Iraq despite the barriers with culture, food and language.

The 26-year old joined Newroz Sports Club in January after leaving Uzbekistan side, FK Mashʼal Mubarek and has continued to play his part for the Iraqi club.

Speaking with Sportlens360, the former Akwa United midfielder said the football in Uzbekistan is different from the one in Iraq and it’s not been easy to adapt.

“It’s not always easy to adapt when you move to a new environment, moving from Uzbekistan to Iraq has not been easy for me, because the football is really different, but I thank God that I’m finally settling down and feeling at home since moving here in January.

“I’m learning everyday to adapt to the new football life and I have little time to do that, because the club can’t wait for you to adapt.” Ifeanyi told Sportlens360.

Ifeanyi, who the Aiteo Cup with Akwa United in 2017, said coping with the food, language and culture is hard, but he is getting a hang of everything.

“I must confess that the food here has not been really bad, the language and their is really a big task for me but I am trying to adapt to everything here. With time, I will get settled”. Ifeanyi added.

Newroz Sports Club are currently placed 14th on the Iraqi Premier League table after 27 round of matches.
