Hogan Ukpa want teammates to keep fighting

FK Liepaja midfielder, Hogan Ukpa has admitted that the 2015 Latvian Virsliga Champions are still much in the title race following their 1-0 win against Riga FC on Friday.

Kirill Alshevsky’s men got their second consecutive win, after losing two matches on a bounce with the title hopes almost out of reach.

The 2015 league Champions lost at home 3-2 to Rigas Futbola Skola on Matchday 8 before losing 3-0 to Valmieras on Matchday 9. They bounced back from the consecutive defeats to beat Super Nova 3-1 on Matchday 10 and Riga FC 1-0 on Matchday 11.

Third-placed FK Liepaja find themselves one point adrift of league leaders, Valmieras and second placed, Rigas Futbola Skola, and Hogan Ukpa has urged his teammates to continue fighting as the title hopes is still much alive.

“Our target from the beginning was to win the league title. We finished third last season and we want to improve on that, by winning the league this season.

“The league title is our main target, but it won’t be easy, we have to keep fighting and maintain a good form till the end of the season. I believe we are still much in the title race and we will win it at the end”. Hogan told Sportlens360 in an interview.

FK Liepaja will host Spartaks Jurmala, who are yet to win a game this season in their next league game on Tuesday.
