Alimi brothers set for derby – “This is business”

Alimi brothers set to face other in Southwest derby

Alimi Sikiru is in line to make his home debut for Remo Stars, as he is set to face his brother, Alimi Adebayo for the first time in their professional careers.

Remo stars announced the signing of CHAN Eagles striker, Alimi Sikiru last week in the mid season transfer window. He made his debut for the Sky blue stars in their 2-1 loss to Kwara United at the weekend.

The Alimi brothers know that ‘brotherly love’ will be thrown out the window, for the huge South West derby with both teams having something at stake.

MFM FC is currently struggling in the Nigeria Professional Football League and are placed 19th on the log, but the younger Alimi, Adebayo says he will face his elder brother like every other player he has faced in the crunchy derby.

“It’s just going to be a normal league game for me and nothing is going to change. I will face him the same way that I’ve faced all the attackers I’ve faced so far.

“I know this is good for the media space and I’m looking forward to my blood brother being my opponent for 90 minutes but it’s crucial for us as a team, because a win will take us out of the relegation zone”. MFM FC defender, Adebayo told Sportlens360.

Alimi Sikiru, who is set for his home debut for Remo Stars and also hope to push for the league title says it’s going to be business as usual against his younger brother.

“Tomorrow’s game is an important one for the team, though it would be emotional for me, considering how we grew up and the rest, but all those have to be left aside and we face the business as usual”. Remo Stars striker, Sikiru told Sportlens360.

The South West derby between Remo Stars and MFM FC will take place on Wednesday at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
