Adeleke says Enyimba’s clash with Shooting Stars is a ‘Want-to-Win Game’

Adeleke believes Enyimba can finish in top three

Enyimba FC defender, Adeleke Adekunle said on Sunday that the Elephants’ Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clash with Shooting Stars is a ‘want-to-win game’.

The Elephants head into the Matchday 25 fixture on 9th position which is six points adrift of third placed team, Enugu Rangers and Adeleke gave his response when asked in an interview with Sportlens360, if the match was a ‘must-not-lose’ game in their quest for top three finish.

“The way we approach games are now different. Every game is now played for at least a point, so we are in Ibadan to make sure we get something and go back home looking forward to the next game. It’s a ‘want-to-win game’ for us.

“We can always get a win or a draw, but it will be important for us not to lose here and that is the mentality we came with.” Adeleke told Sportlens360.

The 2019 league champions finished second in the 2020/2021 season behind league winners, Akwa United and are hoping to do better than last season under new coach, Finidi George.

With 10 games won, 5 draws and 9 losses so far this season, winning the title looks like an unreachable task for the record league winners but the Super Eagles defender believes a top three finish is still possible.

“I believe we can still finish in a top three position. We are fighting for every point we can get to make sure we take the team to the continent. The truth is, it’s not been easy for us this season but we are not giving up.” Adeleke concluded.

Shooting Stars will host Enyimba at the Lekan Salami Stadiun, Ibadan on Monday.
