SD Huesca terminates Kelechi Nwakali’s contract

The club announced earlier that a disciplinary action will be taken against the player

Spanish side, SD Huesca have announced the termination of Nigerian midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali’s contract on Tuesday.

The 23-year old midfielder, joined the Spanish Segunda side in 2019 on a three-year deal which is to run out in June 2022.

SD Huesca made the announcement on their club’s official channel on Tuesday and wished the player, the best in the future.

“The Huesca Sports Society has terminated the contractual relationship that the first-team footballer Kelechi Nwakali maintained with the Barça entity until now. The club has communicated to the player the decision to terminate the contract that he joined both in this campaign and expired in June 2022.

“SD Huesca wishes Nwakali the best in his professional future.” the club announced.

The Super Eagles midfielder, who won the 2015 Golden ball award in the U-17 World Cup started his club career at Arsenal but was sent out on loan to MVV Maastricht, VVV Venlo and Porto B, before moving to SD Huesca in 2019.

He was part of the Super Eagles team, who reached the Round of 16 at the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

It could be recalled that the club also announced that a disciplinary action will be taken against Kelechi Nwakali after he failed to return to the club for close to two weeks after the exit of Super Eagles at AFCON 2021.
